The couple are also working together on philanthropic initiatives.

My son looks at me, and he’s like, “I’m the luckiest boy in the world because I can have Thanksgiving with both my parents and they don’t have to be married.”

But you do need to be able to communicate. I’m not saying that being best friends with your ex is the end-all be-all. I learned how to co-parent with him, so I have more experience than Jeff might have… That took about five years, but we always communicated. She shared, “My greatest example is the relationship I have with my eldest son’s father, Tony. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and exploring all of Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods.Lauren and Jeff have been able to blend their families. She served in a similar capacity at the University of South Carolina, and in the summer of 2016, she was honored to serve as a faculty member at the sixth annual Appreciative Advising Institute at Florida Atlantic University. In the spring of 2016, Lauren served as an Adjunct Instructor at Florida Atlantic University, teaching an online Appreciative Advising course to working professionals in higher education. In addition to advising Loyola students, Lauren has served as a mentor in the Rambler Connection Program, as a member and committee co-chair on Staff Council, and as an instructor of the UNIV 201: Transfer Student Seminar, a course that assists transfer students in acclimating to the Loyola community. Prior to her role as Assistant Dean, she spent seven years in the College of Arts & Sciences at Loyola, first as an academic advisor, then as Senior Academic Advisor from 2012-2016.
